American Legion Post 20 to host Marvin Kalb at Vietnam War event Nov. 20

Longtime CBS and NBC journalist Marvin Kalb will discuss on Nov. 20 the ways in which the Vietnam War has impacted presidential decision-making.

The event, to take place at 6:30 p.m. in the National Press Club's Murrow Room, is part of the official commemoration of the 50th anniversary of major events in the Vietnam War.

Kalb is the author of two books on the subject, `The Road to War: Presidential Commitments Honored and Betrayed' and `Haunting Legacy: Vietnam and the American Presidency from Ford to Obama.'

Kalb was the founding director of the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy, and hosts the Kalb Report, a program on media ethics and responsibility at the NPC.

The Club's American Legion Post 20 has joined as a commemorative partner with the Department of Defense’s official Vietnam anniversary program. Post 20 and the NPC's History and Heritage Committee are sponsoring this event, aimed at honoring Vietnam veterans and educating the public about the Vietnam War.

The discussion will take place in an interview format, with questions presented by NPC President Myron Belkind, History and Heritage Committee Chairman Gil Klein, and Post 20 Commander Ken Dalecki.

The event is free and open to the public.
