5K runway: Top model BiancaChardei joins race

A participant in the hit television show "America’s Next Top Model," BiancaChardei, will join marshals Tony Horton, creator of P90X, and Suzanne Malveaux, anchor of CNN Newsroom, in the 14th Annual Beat the Deadline 5K on Saturday, June 11.

Other celebrities scheduled to run include Mary Schmidt Amons, a cast member of “The Real Housewives of DC,” Eleanor Clift, a contributing editor for Newsweek, Jill Dougherty, CNN foreign affairs correspondent, super model Kim Alexis and Kelly Wright, co-anchor of Fox News Channel’s “America’s News Headquarters.”

Chardei has been featured in various Wal-Mart commercials, on PBS programs, has hosted her own television talk show and was in various BET Rip the Runway commercials.

A CW-DC50 TV personality, she has an upcoming radio fashion segment on 104.1 FM on Saturday mornings and is currently building a nonprofit organization for Sarcoidosis.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the National Press Building and will be followed by the NPC Health & Fitness Fair, a pancake breakfast and an awards ceremony. To register online, visit www.press.org/5K.

A pre-race warm-up by P90X’s Tony Horton begins at 7:15 a.m. Proceeds from the race benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library and provide funding for journalism diversity scholarships.
