Art and Archives the Focus of Fall Hoot, 6:30 pm Oct. 29

The fascinating story of the National Press Club's valuable art and archival collection will be featured at the Silver Owls Fall Hoot on Thursday, Oct. 29. Tickets are $35 per person.

Legendary pianist John Eaton, inducted into the Order of the Owl three years ago, will entertain with a program of "Jazz, Blues and Broadway." The evening is dedicated to the late Golden Owl Mary Lou Forbes of the Washington Start and Washington Times, a member of the Council of Wisest Owls and also the coveted Order of the Owl.

Bratwurst, Cabbage, Beer at Oct. 15 Oktoberfest; $17.50

German food and festive beer will be featured at the international buffet on Thursday, Oct. 15. The buffet opens at 5:30 pm, and reservations are highly suggested. The cost is $17.50, not including beverage, tax and tip.

Menu items include: assorted salads, bratwurst, kielbasa sausage and bee, knotwurst with juniper berry sauerkraut, Black Forest roasted chicken, wiener schnitzel, slow-cooked German beef ribs, smoked sausage and turnips, braised red cabbage and apples, spaetzle, cake and pies

Sam Adams Oktoberfest brew will be added to the Reliable Source's beer menu.
