Filmmaker Ken Burns Discusses National Parks Documentary, Sept. 28 Luncheon Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns spoke at an NPC luncheon on Monday Sept. 28 just as his new six-part PBS series on the national parks premiered. More than six years in the making, National Parks: America's Best Idea combines a rich narrative of the people who came up with the idea for preserving lands open to all with spectacular images of these natural wonders captured on film. Burns, who has spoken at the Club during the openings of his groundbreaking PBS documentary films on the Civil War, baseball and jazz, is known for his lyric presentations at the podium.
