August 28, 2012 12:30 PM
General James Amos, commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, will discuss the role of the Marines as America's crisis response force at a National Press Club luncheon on Tuesday, August 28. Since being confirmed in October 2010 as the first career aviator to lead the Marines, Gen. Amos has overseen a force exhausted by a decade of war. He recently embarked on a worldwide tour to warn Marines to clean up their act after a series of embarrassing incidents pointed to a breakdown in the storied discipline of the Corps.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members, and $37 for general admission. To reserve tickets, please e-mail email@example.com or call 202-662-7501. Tickets must be paid for at time of reservation.
