America's Research-based Learning Network Launched

As the world turns to the Internet for almost everything, finding objective and research-based information and education is critical. For more than 100 years Cooperative Extension, as part of the nation's 75 land grant university system, has worked to provide objective, research-based education and information to improve the lives of Americans. Today, America's Research-based Learning Network has been launched by eXtension (E-extension), an innovative online initiative of the Cooperative Extension System.

America's Research-based Learning Network is made up of more than 70 virtual communities, and this number continues to grow. Experts are working in the social spaces where people seek and share ideas and learning. Fundamental to the Smith-Lever Act that founded Cooperative Extension in 1914, educators and agents are going where the public is ... blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media venues. Offerings include online courses, multimedia projects, learning lessons, videos, diagnostic tools and much more, every day, created to help people solve life problems. America's Research-based Learning Network is addressing many critical issues facing our nation and world including;

• Protecting our Natural Resources and the Environment
• Ensuring an Abundant and Safe Food Supply
• Working for Greater Energy Efficiency and Independence
• Improving Physical, Mental and Emotional Well-being
• Strengthening Financial and Investment Skills for Individuals, Families and Businesses

America's Research-based Learning Network and eXtension continue the time-tested tradition of virtually employing the same land grant university experts to inform and educate not only America, but the world.
