Ethicist, Pastor and Activist Jim Wallis to Address Ferguson Shooting
Washington, DC – The shooting of Michael Brown on August 9th in Ferguson, Missouri sparked massive protests and once again focused national attention on the issue of how police treat minorities. Jim Wallis, the president and founder of Sojourners—a Christian organization that promotes “faith in action for social justice” – went to Ferguson and was arrested on Oct. 13th in an act of civil disobedience along with other faith leaders.
Wallis will provide his unique perspective as a pastor, father, activist and respected voice on ethics and values on the events in Ferguson, and the necessary actions to prevent such events in the future, at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference on Tuesday, November 4 at 1 p.m. in the club’s Zenger Room.
In addition to being the head of Sojourners, Wallis is the editor-in-chief of Sojourners Magazine. He has written 11 books, including On God’s Side: What Religion Forgets and Politics Hasn’t Learned About Serving the Common Good, Rediscovering Values: A Guide for Economic and Moral Recovery; The Great Awakening: Reviving Faith & Politics in a Post-Religious Right America; and God’s Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn’t Get It.
